aking place from 18 April to 4 May 2026, the Halo
World Snooker Championship 2026 closes out the
202526 professional season as the sport’s most
prestigious ranking event. It marks the 50th consecutive
year the tournament has been staged at the Crucible, the
revered venue synonymous with snooker’s history and
traditions.
Top players from the global game will be vying for glory,
with the top 16 in the world rankings seeded directly into
the main draw and 16 qualifiers emerging from the fiercely
contested qualifying rounds at the English Institute of Sport
in early April.
Zhao Xintong enters as defending champion, having
captured his maiden world title in 2025 with a convincing
win over Mark Williams at the Crucible. However, he faces
the infamous Crucible curse, a longstanding trend where
firsttime winners have failed to defend their title since 1977.
