The word legend gets used a lot
these days but we can truly say we recently
had the pleasure of meeting a real living legend.
The chance encounter happened last year on a
visit to a happy customer to see how they have
transformed the house they bought from us a few
years ago. It turned out that the owners Grandad
had now moved in with them.
The Grandad in question happened to be Flight
Lieutenant Colin Bell a highly decorated RAF
squadron pilot, 103 years old. Colin is extremely
active and boldly walked up to me with a
heart-warming smile and firm shake of the hand.
It was a pleasure to chat to a war hero and hear
some of his fascinating stories, he flew in 50
missions over Berlin in a war which in his words,
we just had to win.
I asked Colin about his scariest moment in the air,
and he said that was easy and he explained in
detail the moment when his plane was hit over
